Blundell’s School - The Watsons
After four sold-out nights in the Ondaatje Hall, our Senior School production of The Watsons has come to a triumphant close and what an extraordinary week of theatre it has been.
Inspired by Jane Austen’s unfinished novel and brought to life through Laura Wade’s witty, imaginative and thought-provoking adaptation, this year’s play was chosen as part of our celebrations marking 50 years of girls at Blundell’s. It proved the perfect piece: clever, contemporary, funny, bold, and full of big questions about society, identity and creativity.
Our two casts rose to every challenge with energy, skill and remarkable characterisation. From the sharp comic timing to the emotional nuance, each performance showcased the very best of Blundell’s drama.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this production possible our dedicated pupil technical crew, backstage team, costumiers, makeup, marketing, front of house, and of course our Drama Department. Your time, talent and creativity have been extraordinary.
And finally, to our brilliant casts: you were truly outstanding. You embraced a demanding play with enthusiasm, imagination and courage. We could not be prouder of you.
Bravo, and congratulations on a sensational run!
